Seahorse jewelry dish, ceramic dish with gold accents
Seahorses float calmly through the ocean and represent balance, gracefulness, and strength in life. They prefer to swim through calm seagrass beds and often swim as pairs with their tails linked together. They mate for life and even have an interesting balance in parenting, as seahorses are the only animals in the world where the male carries the young during pregnancy.
I sculpt each seahorse individually by hand, adding the tiny sculpted details all the way down to the tip of the curved tail. Real plants in my garden are used to capture hte feeling of an underwater scene of a seahorse floating in a tranquil blue seabed. The piece is kiln-fired to 2200 degrees F for full maturity, and real 22kt gold accents are added to the rim and seahorse in a separate firing.
The dish measures 5 inches across.
