Geranium Jewelry Holder, Ceramic Dish with Flower Imprint
Common geraniums (Pelargonium) are a cheery old-fashioned flower, generally symbolizing friendship and happiness. Red geraniums have an extra meaning, that of protection of home and self. It may be one of the reasons you see them planted often outside front doors (well, that and they are a lovely welcoming pop of evergreen color).
This ceramic jewelry holder is covered with handpainted geran ium flowers and leaves and has a real 22kt gold accent on the textured rim. Handmade from start to finish, using flowers from my own garden, creating a special spot for your rings, earrings, other jewelry, or incense cones.
This ceramic dish is made from smooth porcelain-like stoneware clay, dried, bisque fired, glazed, and high-fired once more at approximately 2200 degrees Fahrenheit. The flowers are imprinted from actual geranium flowers and then hand painted with shades of green and red underglazes and stains in the style of delicate watercolor. The glaze is a glossy soft clear.
Real gold is applied to the rim in a special process designed for ceramics, and the piece is fired a third time to bond the gold. It's a labor intensive process with a beautiful result.
Measurements: Approximately 5 inches wide
Slight variations and organic shapes in handcrafted ceramics are what make them perfectly unique pieces of art.
