Fox Among the Ferns Jewelry Dish, Ceramic with Gold Accent
This little fox fell asleep among the forest ferns. Foxes are said to bring protection and good luck, a perfect combination when finding a place for your special jewelry. This fox ceramic jewelry dish is handcrafted, glazed and fired in my studio. This little fox figurine keeps watch over this beautiful ceramic dish, a spot for your rings, earrings, or other jewelry.
This ceramic piece is made from smooth porcelain-like stoneware clay, dried, bisque fired, glazed, and kiln-fired once more at approximately 2200 degrees Fahrenheit. The fern is imprinted from a real fern frond, and carefully handpainted to accent the intricate detail. The spiral of the fern represents the magical spirit of the forest - spirals are an ancient and sacred symbol of life and renewal. The orange fox is handpainted with colored glaze and is the charming centerpiece of the leaf dish.
The glaze is a glossy soft clear, warm white on the underside. Real 22kt gold overglaze is applied to the rim in a special process, and the dish is fired a third time to bond the gold to the piece. It's a labor intensive process that gives a special finishing touch.
This jewelry holder is handmade from start to finish, entirely by me in my California studio. Each piece is a labor of love that I hope will bring light and joy into your home.
