Flowering Rosemary Ceramic Dish with Gold Accents
Rosemary symbolizes remembrance, fidelity, and loyalty. Rosemary also symbolizes love and friendship - with some brides tucking it into a bridal bouquet or in their hair. In many cultures, Rosemary is also said to provide protection and to heal the spirit. We are all familiar with Rosemary because of its uses in the kitchen, but did you know that Rosemary has delicate little flowers? It grows easily here in California and at different times of the year, it is covered in tiny purple flowers that bees love.
This ceramic dish is made from smooth porcelain-like stoneware clay, dried, bisque fired, glazed, and kiln-fired once more at approximately 2200 degrees Fahrenheit. The piece is imprinted with actual rosemary leaves and flowers, and then hand-painted with shades of green ceramic stains and purple underglaze. The glaze is a glossy soft clear.
Real gold is applied to the ceramic dish in a special process designed for ceramics, and the piece is fired a third time to bond the gold. It's a labor-intensive process with a beautiful result.
