Lilac Jewelry Holder, Ceramic Dish with Flower Imprint
Lilacs symbolize new beginnings and renewal, as they are among the first flowers to appear in the spring. Throughout history and in many cultures, lilacs have been associated with love and romance, especially a first love or an never-ending love. The Celts and Greek myths claimed that the highly fragrant flowers had a magical power. Lilacs have a beautiful classic form and texture that is captured in this ceramic dish. The leaves are painted in the style of delicate watercolors. Please note that every flower sprig is completely different on each dish, capturing its unique beauty and form. This ceramic jewelry holder is covered with handpainted lilac flowers and has a real 22kt gold accent on the rim. Handmade from start to finish, using flowers from my own garden, creating a special spot for your rings, earrings, other jewelry, or incense cones.
This ceramic dish is made from smooth porcelain-like stoneware clay, dried, bisque fired, glazed, and high-fired once more at approximately 2200 degrees Fahrenheit. The flowers are imprinted from actual lilac flowers and then handpainted with shades of green, purple, and blue underglazes. The glaze is a glossy soft clear.
Real gold is applied to the rim in a special process designed for ceramics, and the piece is fired a third time to bond the gold. It's a labor intensive process with a beautiful result.
Measurements: Approximately 5 inches wide
Slight variations and organic shapes in handcrafted ceramics are what make them perfectly unique pieces of art. The lilac flower is heavily textured and the glaze may have small variations or imperfections.
