Sleeping Dragon Jewelry Holder, Ceramic Leaf Trinket Dish with Gold Accent
Dragons symbolize strength, rebirth, and longevity. Dragons are powerful spiritual symbols, ancient beings appearing in cultures throughout the world. This sleeping dragon jewelry dish is handcrafted, glazed and fired in my studio. Who else but a dragon to keep watch over your precious gold and other treasures placed in this dish, even a tiny one that happens to be fast asleep.
This ceramic leaf dish is made from smooth porcelain-like stoneware clay, dried, bisque fired, glazed, and high-fired once more at approximately 2200 degrees Fahrenheit. The leaf is imprinted from a real Hydrangea leaf, and handpainted to accent the intricate detail. The dragon is handpainted with blues and purples and is the charming centerpiece of the leaf dish.
The glaze is a glossy soft clear, warm white on the underside. Real 22kt gold overglaze is applied to the rim (and little sparkles on the leaf) in a special process for ceramics, and the dish is fired a third time to bond the gold to the piece. It's a labor intensive process that gives a special finishing touch.
This jewelry holder is handmade from start to finish, entirely by me in my California studio. Each piece is a labor of love that I hope will bring light and joy into your home.
