Sleeping Fox Jewelry Holder, Ceramic Grape Leaf Trinket Dish with Gold Accent
Do you remember the fable of the fox and the grapes? The fox saw juicy grapes hanging on a high trellis, but the fox could not reach the grapes even after jumping. Finally, the fox said that the grapes probably weren't sweet anyway: the origin of the phrase "sour grapes." However, the little fox here didn't give up and fell asleep on a grape leaf after enjoying a few delicious grapes. This dish is a reminder never to give up, even if something is out of reach for the moment.
This fox ceramic jewelry dish is handcrafted, glazed and fired in my studio. This little fox figurine keeps watch over this beautiful ceramic leaf, a spot for your rings, earrings, or other jewelry. This ceramic leaf dish is made from smooth porcelain-like stoneware clay, dried, bisque fired, glazed, and high-fired once more at approximately 2200 degrees Fahrenheit. The leaf is imprinted from a real grape leaf, and handpainted to accent the intricate detail. The orange fox is handpainted with colored glaze and is the charming centerpiece of the leaf dish.
The glaze is a glossy soft clear, warm white on the underside. Real 22kt gold overglaze is applied to the rim in a special process, and the dish is fired a third time to bond the gold to the piece. It's a labor intensive process that gives a special finishing touch.
This jewelry holder is handmade from start to finish, entirely by me in my California studio. Each piece is a labor of love that I hope will bring light and joy into your home.
