This jewelry dish sparkles with leaves of wood sorrel, also called lemon clover or shamrock clover. Shamrocks are any trefoil (three leaved) clover plant, and of course they are the beloved symbol of Ireland. Here I used wood sorrel to create this shamrock-themed piece. Although often considered a weed in lawns, wood sorrel is a favorite of bees, butterflies, and wild bunnies. I love the imprints of this clover and the shape of the delicate heart-shaped leaves.

This jewelry dish is made from smooth porcelain-like stoneware clay, dried, bisque fired, glazed, and high-fired once more at approximately 2200 degrees Fahrenheit. The ceramic dish is imprinted with real leaves from garden. The piece is handpainted with stains and underglazes, then glazed and fired in the kiln. Real 22kt gold is applied and the dish is then fired a third time to bond the gold to the piece. The glazed finish is a glossy warm white, with beautiful natural variations found in a high fired finish.

This jewelry and incense holder is handmade from start to finish, entirely by me in my California studio, a labor of love that I hope will bring light and joy into your home.

Measurements: Approximately 5 inches wide

Slight variations and organic shapes in handcrafted ceramics are what make them perfectly unique pieces of art.

A touch of spring

I gave this dish to my sister for her spring birthday. She loved it. The green shamrocks are a pretty green and it looks like spring. Deana’s dishes are always so beautifully done. They are wrapped up with loving care and a joy to open. I love watching the videos of her making them. All of her little dishes are beautiful!
